This paper gives a brief overview of mechanical development within the ”SYMBRION” and ”REPLICATOR” projects towards swarming-capable and reconfigurable platforms. We demonstrate several different modules as well as topological modelling of possible macroscopic organisms built from these modules. The performed topological experiments allow comparing these solutions with well-known ones as well as drawing a few conclusions about possible functionality, morphologies, advantages and disadvantages of each of them.
