Hepatic neuroendocrine tumors are mostly metastatic and only rarely originate in the liver. We describe a patient with a solitary liver mass that proved to be a primary liver gastrinoma (PLG). After resection of the tumor, the patient showed a normal blood gastrin level at 18 months. Neuroendocrine tumors of the liver are exceptionally rare. Among them, PLG bears a better prognosis, because it may be cured by surgical resection (1,2). We describe a patient diagnosed as having a PLG, and review the relevant literature.
