Assumption of an active role in the governance of academic institutions by nurse educators necessitates their knowledge-ability of all forms this governance may assume. This article addresses an increasingly popular pattern of university administration —collective bargaining. The option of collective bargaining is analyzed from a faculty and student perspective emphasizing the historical development of negotiation in the field of education and its meaning for professionals.
