Abstract

Two trends in recent years have produced situations that should attract the attention of computer science (CS) educators. A drop in the number of incoming college students who declare computer science as a major and an increasing demand by potential employers for graduates who have received a more holistic education has created an environment in which an insufficient number of unsuitably educated graduates may soon be sent forth into the workforce. A recent survey conducted by Texas A&M University -- Corpus Christi has shown that, indeed, computer science programs need to address the issue of how they educate their graduates in preparation for entering the workforce.
