SummaryThe plasma concentration and urinary excretion of a stable strontium marker taken with meals with and without a derivative of sodium alginate, OG1, has been measured in 10 children from 2½ to 14 years of age. As in adults, the alginate preparation reduced the absorption and retention of strontium about 4-fold and, in the amounts given, had little effect on the absorption of calcium.
