On the$L1_0$Ordering Kinetics in Fe-Pt Nanoparticles

The kinetics of the L1 <sub xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">0</sub> ordering process in FePt nanoparticles is investigated by thoroughly analyzing the thermal annealing process in two types of gas-phase based preparation methods. It is shown that annealing times as short as a few milliseconds are sufficient to allow for the formation of the L1 <sub xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">0</sub> order in these particles. It is deduced that the ordering kinetics is basically determined by the volume diffusion of Pt in FePt
