Abstract

Abstract A case of multiple large amoebic perforation of the colon is presented. Although amoebiasis is common in the developing countries of the world, reports of bowel perforations needing surgical treatment are few. A high index of suspicion, early surgery and intensive anti-amoebic and antibiotic therapy, as in the present case, may save a patient in an otherwise fatal complication of amoebic infection.
