Concomitants of asymptomatic retinal cholesterol emboli.

Abstract

Our findings suggest that hypertension and cigarette smoking may be important in the pathogenesis of asymptomatic retinal cholesterol emboli and that these emboli indicate systemic atherosclerosis rather than ipsilateral carotid artery stenosis.
