A new hand tool for cutting peat profiles

Abstract

A portable hand tool for cutting undisturbed profiles in peatlands has been developed and field tested. A column up to 1.7 m long, suitable for mounting, root investigations, or subsampling, can be obtained from different kinds of peatlands in less than 10 min.
