Correlation and path analysis in American cotton.

Abstract

Correlation and path coefficient analysis have been worked out for 9 quantitative characters in 40 genotypes of upland cotton at Agricultural College Farm, Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh. The correlation and path coefficient analysis together indicated that number of bolls plant−1, boll weight, ginning outturn, seed index and lint index should be considered as selection indices for seed cotton yield plant−1 improvement programme.
