Abstract

Summary. In a dialyzed casein hydrolysate (Aminosol), produced by the hydrolysis of casein with trypsin and erepsin 76 per cent of the peroral preparation and 67 per cent of the intravenous one is composed of free amino acids. In this dialyzed casein digest the following amino acids occur in a free form viz. alanine, arginine, asparaginic acid, glutamic acid, histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, proline, serine, threonine, tryptophane, tyrosine, valine. The investigation showed that the ten esseltial amino acids, arginine, histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophane, and valine, occur in the free form, a fact which, chemically speaking, proves that this dialyzed casein digest is an adequate source for the nitrogen needs of the body.
