Too much fiber? Protein fibers play an important role in cellular processes, but are also involved in protein-folding diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease. Modern screening and validation models allow the investigation of the aggregation and deaggregation kinetics of protein fibers (see scheme). These studies can serve as a starting point for the development of new therapeutic strategies.
