Abstract : The study was designed with the broad purpose of investigating organization as it occurs in mental processes. It is assumed that the clustering occurring in the recall of words is a consequence of organization. By observing the effects of reinforcement on clustering, one is provided with information useful in developing a theoretical conception of the nature of organization as it occurs in mental processes.
