Access to Planar Chirality through Cycloplatination of ((Dimethylamino)methyl)ferrocene by <i>cis</i>-[PtCl<sub>2</sub>(SOMeAr)<sub>2</sub>] (Ar = Phenyl, <i>p</i>-Tolyl)

A reaction between ((dimethylamino)methyl)ferrocene and the enantiomerically pure complex cis-[PtCl2(S-SOMeC6H4Me-p)2] affords the two easily separable cycloplatinated SSRP and SSSP diastereoisomers 4 and 5, respectively. The absolute configuration of 4 was established by an X-ray study. Diastereomers 4 and 5 react with PPh3 to give enantiomers with the planar chirality only.
