Cyclometalation Reactions

Abstract

Abstract Reactions of transition metal complexes in which an organic ligand undergoes intramolecular metalation with formation of a metal‐carbon σ bond are termed cyclometalation reactions. This article provides a general summary of our knowledge of these reactions, and discusses them in terms of their scope, mechanisms, and utility in organic synthesis, particularly of heterocyclic molecules.
