Abstract

The author argues for reversing the traditional emphases on attitudes and values in public opinion research and reports on some of his own work on value organization and change. The paper is based on an invited address presented at the annual meeting of the American Association for Public Opinion Research in Santa Barbara, California, May 9, 1968.
