Laser performance of large neodymium aluminum borate (NdAl <sub>3</sub> (BO <sub>3</sub> ) <sub>4</sub> ) crystals

Neodymium Aluminum Borate crystals with dimensions up to 20×20×45mm3 have been grown successfully. Laser rod of ϕ3.2mm×23.7mm can be fabricated from the crystal. The relationship between the luminescence concentration quenching effect and the structure characteristics of the crystals have been studied. The pulsed laser performance of this crystal, at an energy output of 422mJ, is reported.
