An apparatus for the production of bulk quantities of splat- cooled material is described. The technique involves feeding liquid alloy into a rapidly revolving crucible from the lip of which the atomized metal is impelled on to a surrounding cooled substrate. The performance of the apparatus is discussed on the basis of experience with Al-Fe alloys.
