Abstract The preparation of 2,5‐ and 3,4‐diethoxypyridine and a new method for the synthesis of 2,5‐dihydroxypyridine are described. A survey is given of some properties, including the ultraviolet absorption spectra, of the six dihydroxypyridines and the six diethoxypyridines.
