TLDR

Sherlock, a standard liver and biliary system textbook since 1955, has been revised into a comprehensive 30‑chapter edition covering biochemistry, portal hypertension, liver failure, diagnostics, and updated treatment aspects. Each chapter is organized into ten major subjects with cross‑references, supplemented by tables, photographs, and line drawings, and the new edition adds extensive sections on diagnostic enzymes, liver immunology, drug‑induced disease, and contemporary surgical and medical therapies. The third edition further reinforces the textbook’s status as a definitive resource.
