The exciton absorption spectrum of ${\mathrm{Cu}}_{2}$O has been measured at low temperatures. As reported by Gross, the observed lines fit a hydrogen-like series formula. The wavelength shift of the position of the optical absorption band edge has also been measured as a function of temperature. The dependence is approximately quadratic.
