Implications of Gender Differences on the Motivation to Volunteer in Hospitals

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study examines the relationship between hospital volunteers' gender and their motivation to volunteer. An empirical analysis of survey data from 362 volunteers shows significant differences between the two groups. That is, the factors that motivate male volunteer workers are significantly different from those that motivate female volunteers. Some explanations as well as generalizations and implications for hospital administrators and human resources managers are developed.
