Abstract

The theory of dislocation mobility is reconsidered, and it is concluded that the interaction between thermal waves and a moving vibrating dislocation causes a drag to the first order in $\frac{v}{c}$. Modifications of the Seeger-Donth theory for the Bordoni peak are suggested. When account is taken of the diffusion of kinks, general agreement with experiment is obtained. The theory of internal friction in the microwave region is briefly reviewed and discussed. No thorough comparison with experimental data has been performed.
