L is the radiographic demonstration of lymph vessels and lymph nodes. A technique of injecting radiopaque material into lymphatic vessels (direct Iymphography) was described in 1952 and 1954 by Kinmonthg and Kinmonth and Taylor10 in the course of their studies of the pathogenesis of lymphedema. Prior to that time, investigation of the lymphatic system was limited to the indirect approach of injecting colored solutions into connective tissue and later observing this solution in lymph trunks.8
