Emission spectra of photoluminescence in mixed crystals of CdIn 2 S 4 and In 2 S 3 were studied at liquid N 2 temperature. The emission spectra decomposed into four main emission bands, the peak energies of which were about 1.80 eV, 1.60 eV, 1.45 eV, and 1.35 eV for CdIn 2 S 4 and accompanied with a shift to a lower photon energy with an increase of In 2 S 3 content. Photoconductivity and excitation spectra in the alloy system were also measured at liquid N 2 temperature. A model for the mechanism of the emission of CdIn 2 S 4 for the two emission bands in the higher energy side is proposed from these experimental results.
