The absorption spectra of CdIn2S4 have been measured at various temperatures between 4.7 K and 412 K, and analyzed in the region of the absorption coefficient from 1 to 2×104 cm-1. The data are interpreted as indicating there is direct-allowed transition with an energy gap of 2.75 eV at 0 K. Indirect-allowed transition is also observed with an energy gap of 2.44 eV at 0 K. The temperature-modulated optical absorption measurement of CdIn2S4 indicates that this material has an indirect energy gap of 2.28 eV at room temperature and an assisting phonon of 0.03 eV.
