The microwave spectrum of 1,3-cyclohexadiene has been investigated in the frequency region 20–36 Gc/sec with a conventional Stark modulation spectrometer. The rotational constants and the orientation of the dipole moment suggest that the equilibrium conformation has C2 symmetry. The dipole moment μ=μa=0.437±0.014 D has been obtained from the observed Stark effect. A semiquantitative estimate of the degree of nonplanarity has been made from an analysis of the ground vibrational state rotational constants.
