Abstract

The fluorous support Hfb (see picture) enabled high-yielding oligosaccharide syntheses in which the synthetic intermediates could be purified by simple fluorous–organic solvent extraction, and the reactions could be monitored spectroscopically and by TLC. Hfb was readily attached to the anomeric hydroxy group of a carbohydrate. The fluorous support could be removed in high yield, and was recyclable.
