Applications of Dedicated Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy to Nonmetallic Materials

Abstract

The operating characteristics of a scanning transmission electron microscope are described and discussed with particular emphasis on those operating modes where scientific advantages and/or advantages of convenience can be realized in microstructural analysis. Several examples demonstrating these operating modes are presented.
