Abstract

Abstract All of the nation's current and future teachers need multicultural education to acquire the knowledge, attitudes, and skills required for the 21st century. Teacher education programs must become culturally responsive to preservice teachers so that teachers are better prepared to work with all students, especially diverse students. This article describes a university collaborative partnership created to provide opportunities for preservice undergraduate education majors in ethnically encapsulated university settings to engage in pre-professional multicultural conferences and dialogues through reflective journal writing. Also described are recommendations for teacher education preparation programs for increasing multicultural competence among its preservice education students.
