Using a proton beam with an overall resolution of 300–400 eV (FWHM) spins, parities and partial widths were determined for all resonances observed (25 s -wave, 32 p -wave, 34 d -wave and two g -wave resonances). Differential cross sections were measured for proton elastic scattering at incident energies between 3.15 and 4.0 MeV and for proton inelastic scattering at incident energies between 3.15 and 3.48 MeV. Spectroscopic factors and Coulomb displacement energies were extracted for the fragmented analogue resonances which corresponded to the 5/2 + , 1/2 - , 5/2 + , 9/2 + , 9/2 + and 1/2 + states in 51 Cr at 3.979, 4.036, 4.070, 4.101, 4.155 and 4.610 MeV, respectively. A value of the s -wave proton strength function was deduced.
