Simulation of the effect of barriers upon electrical tree propagation

Abstract

A simulation model for electrical treeing in homogeneous media is adapted to deal with the effect of barriers in heterogeneous systems. The influence of the physical strength of the barrier is investigated and compared with the experimentally known behaviour. The consequences of a barrier with a conducting surface are also discussed.
