Abstract Two types of equation, one correlating properties (P) with number of n‐fatty acid carbons (N c ) and the other correlating properties of individual acids with temperature (t,C), were developed and used to evaluate and predict properties of the n‐fatty acids. Equations correlating n‐fatty acid properties with number of carbons are reported for freezing points, melting points, boiling points, densities, molar volumes, refractivities, dielectric constants, dipole moments, surface tensions and solubility parameters. Equations also are reported that correlate n‐fatty acid properties with temperature.
