Double parton scattering background to Higgs boson production at the CERN LHC

Abstract

The Higgs boson production and decay via the $b\overline{b}W$ channel is one of the most promising discovery channels at the CERN LHC if the Higgs boson mass is below the ${W}^{+}{W}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ threshold. We point out that double parton collisions represent a sizable source of background to the process.
