Ultrashort-pulse lasers

Abstract

A review of the state of the art of ultrashort-pulse lasers is presented. Physical mechanisms of the formation of ultrashort pulses, methods for measuring their duration, and systems for their generation and amplification are considered. Some applications of femtosecond lasers in physics and chemistry, as well as in technology and medicine are discussed.
