Abstract A comparative study on physical‐chemical as well as on antimicrobial properties of salts of Nα‐Lauroyl‐L‐α, ω dibasic aminoacids esters containing a) Nω‐amino, b) Nω‐guanidino or c) Nω‐trimethyl amino groups, have been carried out systematically. The Nω, Nω, Nω trimethyl amino acids derivatives have been synthesized by the reaction of a Nα‐Lauroyl‐L‐Lysine ester with a combination of methyl Iodide/potassium bicarbonate/methanol, being this ternary mixture a mild and very efficient media for the quaternization of these modified Lysine derivatives.
