Infrared atmospheric spectra were obtained at ∼0.02 cm −1 resolution during a balloon flight made on 3/23/81. These spectra show an absorption feature near 829 cm −1 which we identify as due to CHCℓF 2 (Fluorocarbon 22). A preliminary estimate from the sunset spectra shows approximately 100 pptv F‐22 near 15 km.
