A microscopic approach to evaluate the disorder-induced light-scattering spectra in solids is presented. A quite general theory is developed and then specialized to some model systems that can represent an extended class of real systems. The general features of the disorder-induced spectra of real systems can be predicted, once the microscpic disorder and the mechanism responsible for the induced polarizability are correctly taken into account.
