The objective of this paper is to give an overview of Tropos methodology. Tropos is based on two key ideas. First, the notion of agent and related mentalistic notions, such as goals and plans, are used in all phases of software development, from early analysis down to the actual implementation. Second, Tropos covers the very early phases of requirements analysis, thus allowing for a deeper understanding of the environment where the software-to-be will eventually operate. We illustrate the phases of the methodology, the Formal Tropos language, and the social and intentional models that are used to support software development.
