Type Iii Polyketide Synthases

Type III Polyketide Synthases is a class of homodimeric iterative polyketide synthase enzymes that catalyzes the sequential condensation of acyl-CoA extender units onto a starter molecule without the requirement of an acyl carrier protein, thereby generating diverse aromatic polyketide scaffolds through controlled cyclization and aromatization reactions.
