Tribofilm Formation
Tribofilm Formation is a tribological process in which a chemically reacted, boundary-lubricating film develops *in situ* on contacting surfaces through the interaction of lubricant additives with surface asperities under sliding contact conditions, thereby distinguished from other wear-protection mechanisms by its additive-driven, adaptive surface-modification characteristic.
