Telomeric Silencing

Telomeric Silencing is a form of transcriptional silencing that occurs when gene expression is repressed in genomic regions adjacent to telomeres due to the spread of heterochromatin and the action of silencing factors such as Sir proteins, distinguishing it from silencing mechanisms at other chromosomal loci.
