Succinate Fermentation is a metabolic pathway in anaerobic respiration where succinate serves as a terminal electron acceptor or fermentation product, distinguished by its role in regenerating NAD⁺ through the reduction of oxaloacetate to succinate via the reductive branch of the tricarboxylic acid cycle in certain bacteria and mitochondria under hypoxia.
