Skateboarding Studies

Skateboarding studies is an interdisciplinary academic field dedicated to the critical examination of skateboarding as a complex social, cultural, and spatial phenomenon. It investigates its historical development, subcultural dynamics, community formation, economic impacts, urban spatial practices, and its evolution as both recreation and sport, drawing insights from diverse disciplines to challenge stereotypes and illuminate its role in identity, community, and urban life.
