Recognition Of Personal Status
Recognition of Personal Status is a legal doctrine within private international law that refers to the acknowledgment by a forum state of an individual’s personal condition—such as marital status, capacity, or family relations—when such status is determined under the laws of another jurisdiction, thereby permitting the forum to apply foreign law rules in lieu of its own in matters pertaining to personal status.
