Progressive Closure

Progressive Closure is a mine closure strategy that belongs to the class of staged closure methodologies, distinguished by its implementation of closure activities during the operational phase of a mining project rather than exclusively at its end, thereby enabling incremental rehabilitation of disturbed areas, including Tailings Storage Facilities and underground workings, to reduce long-term environmental and geotechnical risks.
