Pri-microrna Processing

Pri-MicroRNA Processing is the nuclear cleavage event in microRNA biogenesis wherein the microprocessor complex, consisting of Drosha and DGCR8, selectively recognizes and cleaves primary microRNA transcripts (pri-miRNAs) to liberate stem-loop precursor microRNAs, thereby initiating the maturation pathway distinct from cytoplasmic RNA interference mechanisms.
