Newsworthiness Exception
Newsworthiness Exception is a doctrinal limitation within right of publicity and related privacy law that exempts from liability the unauthorized use of an individual’s identity when that use is sufficiently connected to matters of legitimate public interest—such as news, public affairs, or commentary—and is disseminated for informational or expressive rather than purely commercial purposes.
