Neurorehabilitation is an interdisciplinary academic field and clinical approach dedicated to restoring function and enhancing the quality of life for individuals affected by neurological injury or disease. It investigates the mechanisms of neural plasticity and recovery, and employs evidence-based interventions to optimize physical, cognitive, and psychosocial abilities, facilitating independence and community participation.

Neurophysiological Mapping era

Brenda Milner[1], associated with McGill University[3] during the Neurophysiological Mapping era, helped shape neurorehabilitation through early brain–behavior mapping.
