Networked Journalism

Networked journalism is an academic concept and research field examining the transformation of journalistic practices, processes, and outcomes within digitally interconnected environments. It investigates the complex interplay between professional journalists, citizens, and other actors facilitated by digital networks and platforms. This field analyzes phenomena such as collaborative content creation, distributed information gathering, audience participation and interaction, and the evolving roles of journalists, news organizations, and the public sphere in networked contexts. Its significance lies in understanding the fundamental shifts in information production, dissemination, authority, and consumption, and their implications for the future of news, media institutions, and democratic discourse in the digital age.
